New York Fashion Week is always full of surprises, but this year one of the biggest moments came on four wheels. Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. Buzz made a bold appearance at THEOPHILIO’s Spring/Summer 2026 show, where it was transformed into a living piece of art.

Designer Edvin Thompson, known for blending his Jamaican roots with modern New York energy, unveiled his latest collection, RIDDIM, which he describes as “a celebration of movement, memory, and the rhythm of the road.” The vibe was all about freedom — the kind of inspiration that comes from long drives with friends, loud playlists, and the beauty of not knowing where you’ll end up next.

It’s easy to see why the ID. Buzz fit right in. The modern electric reboot of Volkswagen’s classic Microbus is already a symbol of adventure, creativity, and nostalgia — everything RIDDIM embodies. Wrapped in THEOPHILIO’s signature patterns, the ID. Buzz became part of the runway, with models stepping out of it like it was made for the spotlight.

For Volkswagen, the collaboration wasn’t just a stunt. It was a reminder that the ID. Buzz isn’t just about electric power — it’s about culture. “The ID. Buzz was born to turn heads, and Edvin Thompson’s creativity takes its energy to the next level,” said Jeannine Ginivan, Volkswagen’s Chief Communications Officer.

The partnership felt natural — a mashup of heritage and modernity, mobility and self-expression. Thompson’s bold colors and fearless prints matched the ID. Buzz’s own blend of retro design and forward-thinking tech. Together, they turned the runway into a story about connection — between people, places, and the open road.
