Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2027 Turns Corsica Into Fashion’s Most Stunning Runway

There are not many designers who can put on an unforgettable fashion show the way Simon Porte Jacquemus does. With his Spring/Summer 2027 offering, the designer has made it plain that a setting can be as compelling as what is being worn on it. He chose a dramatic cliffside in Corsica to present “Le Bonheur”.

The runway for this occasion was a narrow track along the rocky peninsula of Île-Rousse, making its way to the old Phare de la Pietra lighthouse. As the models were flanked by warm rust-coloured cliffs and the Mediterranean at their feet, one got the sense of a cinematic passage through some of France’s finest scenery rather than a conventional catwalk.

Jacquemus has always been associated with a certain effortless sophistication and the collection was no exception. The women’s pieces – from sculptural dresses and softly draped forms to crisp cotton tailoring and linen separates – had a way of being sensual yet restrained. Men were offered a more relaxed take on modern dressing with wide-leg trousers, fine shirting and lightweight outerwear that did away with any hard distinction between the formal and the casual.

You will not find loud statements or heavy prints here. Instead the palette is one of earthy neutrals, warm creams and sun-washed tones, even in the blacks. It is understated, timeless clothing made for the leisurely rhythm of life in the Mediterranean.

“Le Bonheur” is indicative of where luxury is heading: away from the ephemeral and toward well-made garments of comfort and longevity that are meant for everyday wear. An approach Jacquemus has long advocated and which still has appeal for those building a sensible wardrobe.

Then there is the matter of the venue. In the golden light of a Corsican afternoon, the landscape seemed to become part of the collection, the models as if coming of the rugged ground. The blue of the sea and the rolling hills set off the minimalist attire in an intimate, almost filmic way. At a time when shows are vying for the eye with spectacle, Jacquemus demonstrates the memorability of simplicity. Against such a striking backdrop, “Le Bonheur” was a fitting tribute to the value of good design and the places that give it inspiration.
